Athletic therapy is a health care profession aimed at evaluating, restoring and maintaining physical function. Athletic therapists are trained to assess and improve movement and function, while relieving pain to resume a habitual lifestyle and normal activities during sport, work or at home. Each treatment focuses on individual needs and uses a progressive approach to help you attain your full rehabilitative potential.

An Athletic therapist will mainly treat athletes from any sport, as well as all musculo-skeletal injuries and imbalances such as; back pain victims, motor vehicle accident victims, work related accident victims, chronic pain injuries, pre and post-natal care, overuse and traumatic injuries.

The professional staff at Max includes the only active Certified Athletic Therapist currently treating in the greater Moncton area. CAT’s commonly use the following techniques for treatment:

  • Manual therapy techniques
  • Modified Active Release and stretching techniques
  • Muscle imbalance evaluations
  • Myofascial/soft tissue release
  • Muscle re-conditioning prescriptions
  • Electrical stimulation

Athletic therapy can be the first choice for every ache, muscle tightness or unwanted symptom. Repetitive strain in an individual’s daily life can have many causes: poor posture, inappropriate footwear, poor flexibility, lack of activity, to name a few.

Athletic therapy is recognized and covered by some health insurance companies. You should contact your insurance provider to see if you are covered for these treatments. Furthermore, if you were injured while playing an organized sport, coverage may be extended to you by that association (i.e. minor hockey).

For your convenience, we are open from 7:30am – 10:00pm to suit your availability as well as emergency treatment wherever possible.
